0 Adamawa law makers donates the sum of one million two hundred and fifty thousand to Isa Hamman for Kidney transplant

Adamawa lawmakers have agreed to donate N1. 25 million to Isa Hamma, a patient, who lost his kidney to an operation that, went wrong in a private clinic in Yola.

Newsmen recall that in June 2016, a doctor of a private clinic in Jimeta (name withheld), allegedly conducted a surgery on the victim, a herdsman, removing his kidney in the process.

A member representing Hong Constituency in Adamawa Assembly, Hassan Barguma (Hong-APC), had moved a motion under a “Matter of Urgent Public Importance” in February to seek assistance for the patient.

ABUJA—THE Senate will today hold a valedictory session for late Senator Isiaka, Adeleke (APC, Osun West), who died last Sunday.

The Senate observed a minute silence in his honour, just as the lawmakers in honour of their deceased colleague, suspended all other businesses at yesterday’s plenary and subsequently went for the signing of the condolence register.

0 Update on ASUU NEC Meeting: Leaders met, set to suspend strike -Punch

There is strong indication that academic activities may resume in the nation’s public universities early next week, Saturday Punch has gathered.

Our correspondent gathered on Friday that members of the National Executive Council of the Academic Staff Union of the Universities again converged on Kano to deliberate on whether to call off their over four months old industrial action or not.

The NEC members, who gathered at the Bayero University, Kano, penultimate week to review the reports of the various university congresses over the strike, suspended the meeting following the death of Dr. Festus Iyayi. Iyayi, a University of Benin lecturer and former ASUU president, who died in an auto accident involving the convoy of the Kogi State Governor, Idris Wada, on his way to Kano to attend the NEC meeting.

0 ASUU Disassociates From Planned Resumption of Academic Activities in ESUT Today

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) yesterday said it was not part of the plan by the management of  the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) to resume academic activities in the institution today.
The association stated this in a statement signed by its chairman in ESUT, Prof. Agu Gab Agu and other members of the union.
ASUU said in the statement that it’s attention has been drawn to an announcement by ESUT management that students would resume academic activities on Monday, November 18, 2013.
