0 Kogi Assembly sacks Speaker

The Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Abdullahi Bello and all his principal officers were sacked from office, Tuesday, at an emergency session of the House attended by 17 members of the 25-member House.
The embattled speaker in a sharp riposte affirmed his position saying that he would resume office as speaker tomorrow when the House returns from oversight break.
In the emergency session held in the chamber of the House in Lokoja, Hon. Gowon Haruna representing Dekina Biraidu constituency moved the motion for the impeachment of the Speaker, the Deputy Speaker and all other principal officers.
Presenting the motion, Haruna stated that the change in leadership became imperative in the face of gross incompetence and nonchalant to the affairs of the state by the sacked officers.
Haruna hinted that the members acting as the Progressive Integrity Group, PIG, had long wanted to make the move but were delayed first by the killing of more than 20 worshipers in the Deeper Life Bible Church in Okene and subsequently by the visit of President Goodluck Jonathan to the state following the recent flood disaster
